  1. This is the National Cooking Echo.  It is a non-region specific conference
  2. dedicated to all persons interested in cooking and/or food related topics.
  3.  
  4. The conference is moderated by Joann Pierce, FidoNet 1:105/81, and
  5. is a backbone FidoNet echo, and as such, adheres to FidoNet regulations
  6. for echos.
  7.  
  8. 1.  Topics may be broad but not stray too far from the purpose of 
  9.     this echo and that is to share pertinent conversation and recipes
  10.     with those having a common interest in cooking, recipes, appliances,
  11.     utensils, cook books, food history, and other food related topics.
  12.  
  13.     The discussion of brewing and distilling alcohol will be considered
  14.     off topic and the person doing the posting will be referred to the
  15.     proper echo for those types of messages (ZYMURGY)
  16.  
  17.     The discussion of which wine to serve with a meal or recipe is allowed.
  18.     Discussions of the virtues of different wines in general is allowed.
  19.     The use of alcohol in recipes is allowed, however, the posting of an
  20.     alternate ingredient is encouraged for those who do not or can not use
  21.     alcohol.

  23. 2.  Avoid excessive quoting.  It costs money to send messages but DO
  24.     quote enough so others know what you are referring to. When the subject
  25.     line no longer fits the body of the message, please change the
  26.     subject line.
  27.  
  28. 3.  DON'T get personal!  Personal attacks, (Flames), and Profanity 
  29.     are unnecessary and unwelcome in this conference. Do your part
  30.     to maintain the friendly, family feeling of this echo. If you
  31.     cannot say something nice to someone, don't say anything at all.
  32.  
  33. 4.  No religion, theology, doctrine or biblical references are to be
  34.     discussed or debated. No political debates will be tolerated.
  35.     No racial, ethnic or religious slurs will be tolerated.
  36.  
  37. 5.  ONLY the Moderator will address off-topic traffic.
  38.  
  39. 6.  NO Private Messages.
  40.  
  41. 7.  Handles and/or Aliases allowed if they are a normal part of your
  42.     BBSing. However, you must post your real name at end of message.
  43.  
  44. 8.  High-end characters (8-bit ascii/ansi escape) are not allowed.
  45.     These characters cause havoc on some systems. The continued use of
  46.     such characters will cause you to be banned from the Cooking Echo.
  47.  
  48. 9.  No 'Test' messages, Advertisements of any kind (including BBS 
  49.     ads) allowed, with the following exception: ONE advertisement
  50.     of new cooking related software is allowed. You may NEVER advertise
  51.     ANYTHING to sell in the echo. If in doubt about what is allowed, please
  52.     netmail the moderator and ask for a ruling before posting.

  54. 10. The change in moderators will be done in accordance with the current
  55.     Echopol rules.  In the event that there is no concise and clear rule in
  56.     existence at the time of the change, the current moderator will post the
  57.     requirements of the job and will ask for names of those interested.  The
  58.     decision will be made, by the current moderator, from the names submitted.

  60. 11. These Guidelines are subject to change at any time. The moderator's
  61.     word is the final authority.

  63. 12. That's it, except that if someone comes up with a new and im-
  64.     proved way to aggravate all and sundry I reserve the right
  65.     to make a rule to fit the occasion.

  70. 1. If you mention a recipe in your message - you MUST post it!  Do not ask
  71.    if anyone wants it.  If you like it, someone else will like it too.  A
  72.    first infraction of this rule will receive a severe soggy noodle lashing
  73.    by Jean Cody.  Repeated infractions may bring a threat of a package of
  74.    rubber lasagne in your mailbox!
